As we greet Great Enlightenment and Founding Day on the one hundred and fourth year of the Won-Buddhist Era, I celebrate the sacred Great Enlightenment of Founding Master Sotaesan, the founding of our religious order, and the shared birthday that revived the minds of all lay and ordained members. I earnestly hope that the grace of Dharmakaya Buddha, the Fourfold Grace, reaches far and wide so that individuals, families, nations, and the world are filled with peace and happiness.

Founding Master Sotaesan, the presiding Buddha of the age of the Latter Days' Great Opening, attained great enlightenment to the truth after seeking the Way for about twenty years. He opened the path of light and happiness for those of us living in darkness and suffering.

Today, after around a hundred years of hardship and difficulties since its beginning period, the Order miraculously ascertained the cardinal points of edification in the six continents. This was accomplished through the blood, sweat and tears and utmost dedication of lay and ordained senior members.

From now on, we are endowed with the duty and responsibility to make the dharma words of Il-Won echo throughout the world using our own strength. However, this cannot be achieved by our wishes alone. It will be achieved in a calm and orderly way when we accumulate merits and show gratitude by gathering sincerity to the very end, and gathering power with the right dharma and in the right order, as a way to honor the great vision of the Masters, never yielding when encountering any adverse or difficult sensory conditions.

The Third Prime Dharma Master Daesan said in the dharma instruction, The System of The Order, in order to achieve the great sacred work of delivering all sentient beings and curing the world that Founding Master Sotaesan planned with a great vision, we must first exert efforts regarding the root, so that the right Way grows by strengthening the fundamental aspect. For that to happen, he said, one may follow the order which put the primacy of practice followed by edification, and next put the primacy of edification followed by the enterprises, which is accordant with principle.

Therefore, we must first experience a vast and immeasurable paradise to achieve Founding Master Sotaesan's sacred Il-Won Work. We should put into practice the teachings of the great Way of Il-Won, the Fourfold Grace, the Four Essentials, the Threefold Study and the Eight Articles, that Founding Master Sotaesan put forward as the great vision for saving the world.

For this, Founding Master Sotaesan guided us to ceaselessly discipline ourselves through fixed-term training and through daily training with the dharma units of edification.
The original intent of Founding Master Sotaesan's teaching is not about knowing, but about putting into practice what we know. There is no special group only who could practice his dharma. The Founding Master opened the gate of deliverance with great loving-kindness and compassion so that anyone who practices can succeed.

We are fortunate over an infinity of kalpas, to be entering Master Sotaesan's gate of deliverance. Therefore, all lay and ordained members must practice the teachings one-by-one in our daily lives through the dharmas of fixed-term training and daily training to open the path that leads to limitless merit and wisdom.

Whether we are involved in activity or free from activity, let us pause, calm, and purify our minds one thousand times, ten thousand times, one hundred million times to attain the absorption power of one mind.

Regarding human affairs and universal principles, let us learn, study, and prove by practice human affairs and universal principles one thousand times, ten thousand times, one hundred million times to illuminate the great wisdom that is free from outflowing.

In all matters, let us make mindful choice in action one thousand times, ten thousand times, one hundred million times to show the great virtue of non-action.

Consequently, like Master Sotaesan's aspiration, a thousand tathagatas and ten thousand bodhisattvas should pour forth. Looking forward to the fourth generation of the Order, let each and every one of us make up a great vow to become a tathagata and accumulate merit for this vow.

Let us show gratitude to the vast grace of the Master by endlessly accumulating merits and by becoming a tathagata who possesses the powers of myriad of abilities, myriad of wisdom, and myriad of virtue.

Let us make a great buddha offering through myriad practices of joyful giving a thousand times over, until the day comes when all people around the world honor Master Sotaesan as the presiding Buddha of this age. Thank you.
