새로운 기대로 한 해를 맞아
미국 원불교 밝은 미래 전망
Daesun has worked hard and fulfilled many difficult prerequisites and responsibilities in preparation to become a fully accepted pre-minister student. Through it all, his practice and his love for the dharma of Master Sot'aesan have grown strongly. His mind is filled with thoughts and questioning to develop his understanding of Il Won Sang in daily life.
At the same time, we have the honor of receiving our alumni, Rev. Lee Sungsim, as the kyomunim in charge of the American congregation at the Won Buddhist Temple of Philadelphia. Sungsim was a very sweet and lovable person during her student days, and she is now going to be a great comfort and inspiration to our American members.
As Sungsim Kyomunim arrives, we say goodbye to another of our treasured alumni, Rev. Jo Nakbin, who has been working with the American congregation here for six years now. He has grown in confidence and dharma power, bringing a peaceful and loving atmosphere to the people. Nakbin Kyomunim will now travel to Boston, Massachusetts, where he will become the American members' kyomunim. We wish him the very best of journeys and great blessings for him and his congregation.
We will miss him a lot, but we also celebrate his new opportunity to further the movement for Won Buddhism in America.
With the loving compassion and positive energy of young people like these, Won Buddhism in America has a really bright future. We will meet these friends again in the future, especially at the Won Dharma Center, where we will all continue to build those affinities that will help to bring about a new world of harmony in these changing times.
미주선학대학원 원불교학과는 새로 입학한 백종훈 예비교무를 기쁘게 환영한다. 종훈 예비교무는 열정적인 확신과 결심으로 미국 학생 비자 취득의 여러 어려움을 극복하고 우리 학교에 올 수 있었고 이제 공부를 시작하게 됐다.
우리는 그의 헌신에 대해서 감사하게 생각하고, 또한 1차 고시를 마치고 대학원과정에 입학한 원대선 예비교무에 대해서도 마찬가지이다. 원 예비교무는 여러 가지의 선행과정들을 어렵게 완수하였고 예비교무과정에 입학할 수 있는 자격을 취득하게 됐다.
이 모든 과정을 통해서 원 예비교무의 수행과 대종사님 교법에 대한 애정은 확고하게 자라게 됐다. 원 예비교무의 마음은 이제 일상생활에 일원상의 진리를 더욱 철저히 이해하기 위해서 생각하고 탐구하는 것으로 꽉 차있다.
동시에 우리는 우리 학교 졸업생인 이성심 교무가 필라교당에 부임하여 미국인 교도들을 잘 이끌게 된 일을 자랑스럽게 생각한다. 이 교무는 학창시절 친절하고 사랑스러운 사람이었는데, 지금은 미국인 교도들에게 큰 위안이 되고 법열을 불러일으킬 것이다. 이 교무가 부임할 때 우리는 또 보배 같은 한 명의 본교 졸업생인 조정수 교무와는 작별을 했는데, 조 교무는 6년간 여기서 미국인 교도들 교화에 노력해 왔다.
조 교무는 자신감과 법력이 훨씬 증진되어 미국인들에게 평화롭고 사랑스러운 분위기를 만든다. 조 교무는 이제 매사츠셋츠 주에 있는 보스톤으로 떠난다.
거기서 조 교무는 미국인 교도들을 교화할 것이다. 우리는 조 교무가 자신을 위해서 교도들을 위해서 최고의 여정이 되고 축복이 함께 하기를 기원한다.
우리는 조 교무를 많이 그리워 하겠지만, 동시에 조 교무가 미국 원불교의 나은 발전을 위한 새로운 기회를 갖게 된 것을 축하한다. 이처럼 젊은 사람들의 친절한 자비심과 긍정적인 에너지 덕분에 미국의 원불교는 진정으로 밝은 미래를 맞이하고 있다.
우리는 이런 친구들을 장차 다시 만날 것이고 특히 원다르마센터에서 이 변화의 시대에 조화로운 새 세계를 만들기 위해서 노력하는 인연들을 계속 쌓아나갈 것이다.
